Headless Finance Is Live: Control Ad Cards From Any AI Agent

Flyweel MCP card tools are live. One connection lets an AI agent read your ads, deals and card charges, then freeze, issue or budget a card once you confirm.

Flyweel MCP card tools are live in every Flyweel account. The same connection that already reads your Google, Meta and TikTok ads and your CRM deals now reads your Flyweel Cards1 too. An owner or admin can ask an AI agent to freeze a card, issue one, or set a card budget, and nothing changes until they say yes.

We call this headless finance: the money behind your ads, run from the agent you already work in, with no finance dashboard in between. The longer explainer is in headless finance for ads. This post covers what shipped, what it can and cannot do, and how to turn it on.

What shipped?Link to this section

Six card tools on the Flyweel MCP server, next to the ad and CRM tools that were already there. Two read. Four change something, and each of those four needs your confirmation.

One ad tool grew as well. query_metrics now returns the domain and URL each campaign sends traffic to, so an agent can spot a campaign pointing somewhere it should not.

What can you ask it?Link to this section

Anything that used to need two tabs and a spreadsheet. Start with what the ads really cost:

What did Meta report for May, and what did the Meta card actually settle?
Which card charges last month have no matching campaign spend?

The platform total and the card total rarely match. Tax, currency conversion and billing dates all sit between them. The agent reads both sides and shows you the gap, so cost per lead is worked out on money that left the account.

Then the room you have to scale:

How much budget is left on the Google card this month?
Which campaign won the most deals per dollar the card was charged?

And the changes:

Cap the Meta card at $500 a day.
Issue a card for Sam named "TikTok - Brand".
Freeze the card paying for the Meta account. I think it was hijacked.

That last one is why we built the write tools first. When an ad account is taken over, the attacker spends as fast as the card allows, and you are often locked out of Ads Manager while it happens. You are not locked out of your agent. A freeze stops the next charge on that card and leaves every other card running.

Can the agent change anything without me?Link to this section

No. Every card change is a two step action. The agent shows a preview of exactly what will happen, and it runs only after you approve it. The approval is tied to that one action and expires after 5 minutes. The agent cannot confirm on your behalf.

The other guardrails:

  • Owners and admins only. Other roles cannot change cards through the agent.
  • No card secrets. The agent never sees a full card number, a CVV, or a cardholder’s phone or address.
  • Read-only on your ads. It still cannot create, pause or edit a campaign, bid or creative.
  • Your organization only. The connection sees the ad accounts and cards of the organization you signed in to.

Where does it work?Link to this section

Anywhere that speaks MCP. That covers Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and terminal agents. In the Flyweel app for ChatGPT, reading cards, freezing, unfreezing and card budgets are live, and issuing a card is still in review with OpenAI. For most clients, setup is one connection and an OAuth sign in. Headless and CLI clients that cannot use OAuth connect with an API key instead. Both paths are in set up the Flyweel MCP.

The MCP server is free, and the ad and CRM tools work worldwide. The card tools need Flyweel Cards on your account, in either debit mode or capital mode, and those are US only today.

What can’t it do yet?Link to this section

Six things worth knowing before you rely on it:

  • Cancelling a card. A freeze is reversible. A cancel is permanent, so it stays in the Flyweel app.
  • Merchant categories. Cards stay locked to ads and marketing. The agent cannot change what a card is allowed to buy.
  • Budgets above the account limit. A card budget narrows what one card can spend. It cannot raise your account limit.
  • Issuing at volume. New cards go to people who already hold a Flyweel card login, up to 5 cards per organization in 24 hours.
  • Issuing from ChatGPT. The ChatGPT app cannot issue a card yet. Every other MCP client can.
  • Card to ad account matching. The agent matches a card to an ad account by the card’s nickname or the merchant on its charges. Name each card after the platform it pays and the match is clean.

Card data updates on each card event and is re-checked every 30 minutes, so a charge from a minute ago may still show as pending.

Why put finance behind an agent?Link to this section

Because the question a media buyer actually asks crosses three systems. Did this charge buy a lead, did the lead become a deal, and did the deal turn into cash? The ad platform knows the first part. The CRM knows the second. The card knows what it really cost.

A dashboard makes you carry the answer between them. An agent with all three behind one connection just answers, and then acts on it with your sign off. That is the whole idea, and it is live today.
