ChatGPT (Manual Connector)

Most people should install the Flyweel app from the ChatGPT app directory: it takes one click and no configuration. This page covers the manual alternative: adding the raw MCP server URL as a custom connector. Turn on Developer mode under Apps & Connectors, add Flyweel as a connector, paste https://api.flyweel.co/functions/v1/mcp-server/mcp, set Authentication to OAuth, then sign in and approve. Flyweel shows up in the tool menu in any chat. ChatGPT connectors are OAuth-only; there is no API-key option.

Use the app instead unless you have a reason not to. The Flyweel app for ChatGPT is live in the directory, installs in one click, and needs no Developer mode. The manual connector below is for self-managed workspaces and testing against a non-production endpoint.

  • ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu (free tier does not support custom MCP connectors)

Custom MCP connectors are gated behind Developer mode, available on Plus/Pro and up. On Business/Enterprise/Edu workspaces an admin may need to enable it first.
